GERMANY July 2008
My brother and his long time girlfriend finally decided to get married early July 2005. So for that occasion, we all went to
Germany.
First there was the Polterabend. This is a German tradition where people show up and throw old china. The bride and groom then
have to clean up the mess. Supposed to bring luck. Of course, all guests want to be fed and drink! Here are the pictures:
Then there was the official wedding at he courthouse. It took place at the Posthof in Hattersheim, Germany, same place my wife
and I got married. Here are the pictures:
On Saturday, July 5, Kai & Stephie got married at the Catholic Church in Hattersheim. The party then took place in the Schlos in
Bad Homburg which provided a magnificent setting. Here are the pictures:
After the wedding, it was time to travel. As we hadn't been in Munich for quite some time, that is where we went first. Here are
pictures of Munich and the Tegernsee:
Then we went to visit Ulla & Klaus in their home close to Saalfelden, Austria. While there, we visited a streetparty in Zell am See,
went up to the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse, visited Salzburg and then on the last day went hiking. What a beautiful 3 days we
spent there! Here are the pictures:
On our way back to Frankfurt, we stopped briefly in Ulm to visit the Ulmer Muenster, which spots the highest church tower in the
world. Then we visited my cousin Uwe and his wife. In their little village outside of Stuttgart they had a nice little street party. The
next day, we went to visit the Schloss Ludwigsburg, a barock castle which housed the Kings of Wuerttemberg in the 18th century.
